STEAL A PEEK behind the walls of the new Keefe Kaplan Maritime Inc. boat yard on the Sausalito waterfront over the next few weeks and you’ll see an impressive lineup of some 25 high performance-racing machines. The boats and their crews are in town for the Melges 32 World Championship, hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club later this month.
“It’s fun to open the facility in Sausalito with already a mixture of boats in the yard,” said Paul Kaplan, a Tiburon resident and co-owner of KKMI. “It’s great having world class sailors here who’ve decided this is an ideal place to look after their boats.”
Kaplan and his partners Ken Keefe (from Kentfield) and Cindy Revel (from San Francisco) undertook a significant amount of site remediation and upgrading before opening, plans that required Sausalito city approval.
